About Shelah

There is just something about these “About Me” pages that have always rubbed me wrong. I think it’s because they are typically ever so boring. With that in mind, I bring you a bunch of random facts about me that may or may not be boring. Enjoy!

  • My husband and I moved to North Florida at the beginning of 2020 to start our farm. We still have no idea what we are doing most days.
  • My sister and I refer to my dad as Sputnick. We even go as far as using appropriate lingo when we discuss his latest antics. I am certain he knows we do this and pretends not to be amused.
  • I am owned by 4 dogs. Apparently that makes me a “dog” person. Reality is they drive me bat shit crazy on the daily. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
  • I grow stuff in my garden that I have never heard of and sometimes that I have no idea if we will even eat because someone on You Tube told em to grow things that set me on fire. So…if it looks fun, I don’t hesitate to try.
  • I am certified in a whole pile of health related fields. I walked away from it all when we moved. It is a constant struggle for me to not dive back in with both feet…although I am finding my way back to some of it.
  • I always want more tattoos…and iced coffee…and wine. Always.
  • I spent a good deal of my middle ages not having a clue how old I was without doing some math because I got in the habit of telling anyone who asked that I was 29. My kids did too.
  • This blog is a whole pile of random nonsense that fills my head on the daily. I can’t promise you what you will find here on any given day. I really have tried to organize the chaos. I am still not sure if I have been successful with that.

Monday reminder from your friendly neighborhood yoga instructor: you don't have to twist yourself into a pretzel to earn a little peace. Five minutes of breathing counts. So does stretching beside the dog who insists your mat is community property. ☕ Welcome to Snuggle Up Sunday! Saturday field report: I stepped outside intending to finish one thing, and the farm immediately presented six competing emergencies, none of which were actual emergencies. 🌸 It's Feel Good Friday, my beautiful people! 🌸 Today's Substack conversation takes our newest blog reflection one step deeper: how do you love people without volunteering to manage every emotion in the room? Bring your thoughts and your coffee. Find the reading link in my bio. ✨ The farm has a special way of correcting my plans. I make a sensible list, walk outside, and suddenly I'm negotiating with weeds, weather, and a chicken with very strong opinions. What's the most ridiculous detour your day has taken lately? 🌿 #GlimmersInChaos A little something from Glimmers in Chaos: You can care about people without carrying every feeling they hand you. This week's Glimmers in Chaos reflection is about boundaries, love, and putting down the emotional luggage that was never ours to haul. If that sounds familiar, come read along. Find the reading link in my bio. Snuggle Up Sunday is here, and SWEATER WEATHER IS FINALLY COMING TO FLORIDA! MONDAY MORNING YOGA: Because Coffee Can Only Fix So Much!
